Norwell’s boys’ track and field team placed third in the NE8 Conference meet at New Haven on Monday.

The Knights trailed only the champion Columbia City with 132.5 points and runner-up Leo with 102 points. 

Winston Frauhiger and Jake Parker were the Knights’ lone event winners. Frauhiger won the high jump, clearing 6 feet 1 inch. Parker won the 110 meter hurdles with a meet record time of 15.31 and was the runner-up in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.63. 

Trevon Stoppenhagen had a great night in the sprints, placing second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.01, third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.72, and fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.87. 

Kyle Zeddis led Norwell in the throws, placing second in discus with a throw of 133 feet 8 inches and sixth in shot put with a throw of  43 feet 5.25 inches. 

Drew Ringger was third in high jump at 5 feet 10 inches and sixth in long jump at 18 feet 7.25 inches. Kellen Zimmer placed fifth in pole vault at 10 feet 6 inches, and Grant Meyer placed right behind in sixth at 10 feet. 

Hayden Bennett finished fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.91, and Zander Huss finished eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.38. 

In relays, Norwell’s 4×800 team finished fourth with a time of 8:47.94, the 4×100 team came in fifth with a time of 45.46, and the 4×400 team took sixth with a time of 3:41.8.

In the girls’ meet, the Lady Knights placed eighth with 33 points. 

Claire Bailey led Norwell’s scoring with fourth-place finishes in both hurdle events. She finished the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.41 and the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.36. 

Ali Riley finished fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:34.56. Emma Dummer placed sixth in high jump at 4 feet 8 inches, and Shae Brooks placed eighth at 4 feet 6 inches. Emerson Meredith was sixth in pole vault at 8 feet 6 inches, followed by Kendall Dunwiddie in seventh at 8 feet.  Makenzie Fuess came in seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.89. 

Norwell’s 4×400 meter relay took fifth with a time of 4:32.28, and its 4×800 took sixth with a time of 10:46.58. 

Huntington North finished as the champion with 127 points, and East Noble was the runner-up with 122 points. 

Norwell’s teams will head to Muncie Central on Tuesday for their next meet.
