There is so much going on this weekend! Today at Roush Park, we are hosting a brand new event called Power Wheels in the Park from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by the Kids Bike Rodeo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information on the event, go to https://blufftonindiana.net/data/uploads/2022/03/kids-bikefest-2022.pdf.
The citywide clean-up for Bluffton residents will run from 8 a.m. to noon today. Dumpsters will be placed at the wastewater treatment facility, 702 N. Main St., to dispose of extra trash and bulk items.
Items not accepted are hazardous waste materials, tires, electronics, printers, computers, televisions, recyclables, and large pieces of furniture. Carpet will be taken if it is cut into 4-foot pieces and bundled up. A driver’s license may be required.
The Bluffton Street Department will be loading free mulch for residents at the compost site starting at 8 a.m. The location is Ind. 124 east across from the License Branch.
We still have summer swim lessons available if you missed the sign-up last weekend. Two-week classes are only $20. Call the park office at 824-6069 to register by May 27.
Once the pool opens up on Memorial weekend, you can call the facility at 824-1550 to look into private swim lessons.
The Firefly Ballet Tour will be at Kehoe Park at 7 p.m. this Tuesday, May 17. Start your summer with Fort Wayne Ballet’s professional company of dancers, great music, and the twinkling lights of evening stars and fireflies.
This tour brings a variety of fantastic dance performances to surrounding communities. These performances are free and open to the public.
The Grand Sweet Shop will have treats for sale at the event, so bring a few dollars if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth.
The weather is warming up, and we anticipate opening the splash pads around Memorial weekend as usual. Bluffton has two splash pads, one at Pickett’s Run Park, 304 E. Washington St., and the other at Roush Park, 925 W. Silver St. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the water features can be turned on by touching the sensors.

An Interurban Trail closure will be coming up on May 23 through May 26 when Indiana Michigan Power will do some foundation work at the city north electrical substation at the intersection of North Main Street and Madison Avenue. Please avoid this area while they are under construction.
If you are playing “Clue Murder Mystery,” all clues are south of this station, so you won’t need to cross this area.
We are looking for volunteers! We will be hanging up the yarn bombs starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at (weather permitting), and we could use all the hands we can get. Call the park office at 824-6069 to help out that day.
