Creative Arts will offer adult class for drawing 

Wells County’s Creative Arts Council is offering an academic drawing class for adults, with artist Daniel Swartz as the instructor for the 9-session series.

During the month of June  the classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Creative Arts Center at Life Community Church. Tuition is $135 plus student supplies.

Sessions will focus on exploring various approaches and methods of drawing. Each class session will consist of concept introduction, instructor demonstration, collaborative learning exercises and guided in-class work time.

Artist Swartz has 14 years of experience in teaching art and design. He holds a B.S. in illustration, an M.A. in Visual Studio Art with a focus on representaional oil painting, as well as  M.F.A. in illustration. He lives in southern Wells County with his wife and two boys and works as a freelance artist and designer.

Junior/teen naturalist camp is slated for June 6-10 at Ouabache 

Those between the ages of 8 and 15 who want to learn more about nature and share their knowledge with others can attend the Junior Indiana Master Naturalist day camp at Ouabache State Park, June 6-10.

It will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.

The fee is $70 per student and $60 for each additional sibling. (The standard park entrance fee will be waived for students during class.)

Event for Vietnam-era vets is Wednesday

Military veterans of the Vietnam era are invited to a special event from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton.  

Representatives of the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans organization will be on site to personally present veterans with a gift in appreciation of their service. Similar events have been held in other counties in northeast Indiana and some additional counties will schedule more events in the upcoming months.    

The event, sponsored in part by the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, is open to all veterans of the Vietnam era regardless of the location of their service, whether in Vietnam, the United States, or any location around the world.  Individuals who served on active duty, in the National Guard, or in the reserve forces of the United States are welcome. 

The Wells County Veterans Service Officer will be present to answer questions regarding benefits.
