Bluffton junior Lauren Reiff got a call back to the state track and field meet following her fourth-place finish in the discus in Tuesday’s regional at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Reiff’s best throw was 124 feet 10 inches, which placed the her fourth in the event. The top three placers in each event automatically advance to next week’s state meet at Indiana University, as well as those that meet the state standard for their event and another few get call backs.
Reiff was a sectional champion the week before with a throw of 122 feet 11 inches.
She placed fourth in last year’s regional meet as well with a throw of 117 feet 2 inches, but did not receive a call back that season.
Reiff’s appearance at the state will be the first time in 14 years the Bluffton girls’ track program will be represented.
