Southern Wells’ boys’ track and field team scored 73.33 points in the Adams Central Invitational on Friday to place fourth out of six teams. 

The Raiders performed best in the distance events. 

Potter Garrett finished second in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:58.85 seconds and finished third in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 11:16.22 seconds. 

Joshua Bricker finished right behind Garrett in the 3,200 meter run, taking fourth with a time of 11:18.74. 

Andrew Aker also finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.96. 

Nick Lozoya finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.17 and came in fifth in the high jump by clearing 5 feet 2 inches. 

Other top finishes on the track included Levi Woodward taking third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.97 and Meet Patel taking fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.26. 

In the throws, Perrin Gates took fourth in discus with a throw of 98 feet 1 inch. AJ Thompson placed fourth in shot put with a throw of 34 feet 9 inches, and Peyton Long came in fifth with a throw of 34 feet 2.5 inches. 

In the girls’ meet, the Lady Raiders placed fifth out of five teams with 47 points. 

Brooke Tonner was Southern Wells’ lone event winner, taking first place in high jump by clearing 5 feet. 

Zoey Solga also had a big night, finishing second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.8 and second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.8. She also placed fourth in discus with a throw of 79 feet 8 inches. 

Other top finishes included Sydney McFarren taking third in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:58.07, Katelyn McMillan taking fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:14.74, and Brianna Hughett taking fifth in high jump by clearing 4 feet 4 inches. 

Southern Wells will compete again on Tuesday at Woodlan.
