The candidates for the spring’s local contested primary election for the Republican party have been invited to a candidate forum.
The event is set for 7 p.m. Monday, April 11, at the Commerce and Visitors Centre in Bluffton.
Those who have been invited are the candidates for Wells County sheriff, county assessor and Wells County Council District 1.
Monday is the deadline to register to vote for this year’s primary election, and early voting begins the next day.
“Voters can register in our office until we close at 4:30 p.m. on Monday or they can also go online to register by the end of the day on Monday,” Clerk Beth Davis said Friday.
Voters can register through indianavoters.in.gov or by going through the same link on the county clerk’s website.
Absentee or early voting begins Tuesday, April 5, at the clerk’s office and will run through April 29 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
On Saturday, April 23 and April 30, voters can vote at the clerk’s office from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clerk’s office will also take early voters from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, May 2.
Absentee or early voting is available at three vote centers on Thursday, April 28, and Friday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Dustman Road in Bluffton; Wells County 4-H Park, 1240 4-H Park Road in Bluffton; and Lighted Gardens at 10794 N. Ind. 1 in Ossian.
The Presbyterian Church will also be open on Saturday, April 23, and Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Election Day, Tuesday, May 3, vote centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to the ones opened for early voting, two other sites will be open on Election Day: Tower Life Church in Zanesville at 11811 N. Wayne St. and Southern Wells Community Church at 9450S-300W, rural Poneto.
