City:

Wednesday, 1:49 p.m., Sunrise Way resident reported that she kept receiving calls from someone who claimed to be a police officer, then a police detective. She was advised it was a scam and to block the number.

Wednesday, 4:12 p.m., apartment in the 200 block of East Washington Street. Caller requested an officer because her teenage daughter had flushed her anti-anxiety medication Xanax down the toilet.

Wednesday, RediMed, 1980 N. Main St. Belligerent patient. Officer dispatched. Patient left before officers arrived.

Wednesday, 6:24 p.m., Main Street at Ind. 124. Woman reported driving her Buick Regal up onto the curb to avoid a collision with a vehicle that failed to yield and left the scene. The Regal sustained tire and rim damage. Passerby helped change the tire and remove the vehicle from the road.

Wednesday, 8:47 p.m., 200 block of North Baldwin Street. Verbal altercation between a married couple. Officers responded. Situation calmed.

Wednesday, 10:49 p.m., 300 block of West Wabash Street. Caller concerned about possible illegal drug activity in a vehicle parked in an alley nearby. Officer responded and discovered that the occupants were smoking cigarettes and the driver was showing her friend her new tattoo.

Thursday, 2:07 a.m., Bluffton Wastewater Treatment plant, 702 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. No sign of foul play found.

Thursday, 4:19 a.m., residence in the 900 block of Westfield Drive, Bluffton Woods mobile home park. Caller reported hearing someone trying to use a key in the front door of his mobile home but then left. Officer responded but didn’t see anyone suspicious.

Thursday, 7:09 a.m., Peyton’s Northern, 1111 S. Adams St. Report of the driver in a semi in the checkout area congested and vomiting. Bluffton police, Bluffton Fire Department first responders and Wells County EMS dispatched.

Thursday, 9:10 a.m., Roush Park, 925 W. Silver St. Theft of a ball bat.

Thursday, 9:26 a.m., residence in the 900 block of South Main Street. Theft of several items from the residence.

Ossian:

Thursday, 9:23 a.m., Ginger Fresh Market, 410 N. Metts St. Customer, unaware she had a counterfeit $10 bill, bought an item at the market with the bill the previous evening. She said she believed she may have gotten the bill while shopping in Fort Wayne and agreed to make it good. The bill was confiscated by police as evidence.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Wednesday, 12:23 p.m., Main Street near Capri Court. Christopher Shannon, 53, Bluffton, was driving a 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck pulling a trailer. He turned onto Main Street to head north and failed to see a northbound 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Paul T. Kraus, 49, rural Hartford City until after Kraus left the road in an attempt to avoid a collision. A collision between the two vehicles did not occur, but driving up and over the high curb caused more than $1,000 damage to the Silverado.

Thursday, 7:12 a.m., Ind. 124 at 300W. James Hall, 21, Fort Wayne, was southbound on 300W when he drove his 2008 Cadillac CTS into the path of a westbound 2015 Freightliner box truck driven by Daniel L. Gremaux, 66, rural Decatur, and registered to Zurcher Tire Inc., Monroe. No one was injured. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Ossian:

Tuesday, April 12, Baker Drive at Industrial Parkway. Baker T-intersects with Industrial Parkway. There was a heavy fog at the time that was so thick that David R. Stults, 29, Huntington, who was southbound on Baker failed to see the intersection until he was in it. His 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan slammed into the ditch bank on the opposite side of the intersection and traveled into a field before coming to a stop. Damage to the van exceeded $2,500.

Monday, 3:41 p.m., Jefferson Street at LaFever Street. Joseph F. Bemben, 38, Fort Wayne, was northbound on Jefferson Street in a 2006 GMC Canyon pickup truck when he failed to see a 2020 GMC Sierra pickup truck, driven by Timothy L. Mygrant, 63, Bluffton, stopped at the intersection. The ensuing crash caused more than $5,000 damage to the two pickups.

Thursday, 8:50 a.m., Ossian Elementary School, 213, S. Jefferson St. Both Korianne M. Snyder, 25, Ossian, and Rebecca Sims, 27, rural Ossian, were in the drop-off line at the school when Snyder became distracted by her children. Her 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van started to inch forward, Snyder realized what was happening, turned around and meant to hit the brake, but hit the gas peddle instead, and the van propelled forward into the back side of Sims’ 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche sport utility vehicle. Damage exceeded $2,500.

ARRESTS

Dustin David Agler, 37, Fort Wayne; three counts of theft wherein the value of the property is at least $750 but less than $50,000, all Level 6 felonies; failure to appear in court, a Class A misdemeanor; and revocation of bail. Bond set at $15,000 on the felonies, $1,500 on the misdemeanor and no bond set on the bail revocation.
