Three Bluffton churches — First Presbyterian, First United Methodist, and Calvary Lutheran — will combine for a Maundy Thursday service, which will be held at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
Music by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s A440 String Quartet will play for the service.
Musicians with the A440 group include violinists Kristin Westover and Pablo George Vasquez, violist Debra Graham, and cellist Brian Klickman. They will be playing selections from George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” as scriptures will be displayed on a large screen along with an artist’s depiction of the scripture passages.
“Messiah” is probably the best known of Handel’s works and was composed in 1741 in less than one month. Handel himself conducted its first performance in 1742 in Dublin, Ireland. During this presentation, music selections and scripture from Part II and Part III will be played.
The public is invited to attend. Holy communion will be celebrated.
