Friends of the Shelter will meet Monday afternoon

Friends of the Shelter, the organization that provides support for the Bluffton/Wells County Animal Shelter, will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 128 E. Market St.

Topics on the agenda include financials and upcoming events, including the Bluffton Parks Dept Dog Bone Hunt.

Candidates’ forum to be held Monday evening

A candidates’ forum will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 11, in the lower level of the Commerce and  Visitors’ Centre, 211 Water St. in Bluffton.

Candidates running for the Republican nomination for Wells County sheriff, assessor, and District 1 County  Council will be present, as will candidates for the District 79 seat in the Indiana House of Representatives.

Bluffton Board of Works to meet Tuesday afternoon

The Bluffton Board of Public Works and Safety will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, in the meeting room on the first floor of City Hall, 128 E. Market St.

• A Zoom meeting with Donald Frey concerning utility software.

• A personnel matter, brought to the board by Brandy Fiechter of the Parks and Recreation Department.

• A discussion on commercial drivers’ licenses, brought to the board by Jon Oman, operations manager.

Northern Wells school board will meet Tuesday

The board of the Northern Wells Community Schools will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Norwell High School, 1100E U.S. 224.

Topics on the agenda include:

• Personnel matters — One request for leave, two resignations, and five  hiring recommendations.

• Consideration of the acceptance of seven donations.

• Consideration of three requests for trips.

• Consideration of a funds transfer.

• Consideration of several policies on second reading and consideration of a request to retire several other board policies.

• Consideration of a Maintenance Department request to dispose of or sell items that are no longer needed.

A strategic work session will follow the conclusion of the regular meeting.

The board will meet in executive session at 4:15 p.m. prior to the regular meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to receive information about and interview prospective employees.

Upper Wabash River Basin panel to meet Thursday
