Arizona resident’s vehicle break down led to ‘helpful’ time in Markle

A traveler on Interstate 69 from Arizona recently had a pleasant experience in Markle.
Michael Frantz — a resident of Show Low, Ariz., located about a three hours’ drive northeast of Phoenix — emailed the town in late February about his time in the area after his truck broke down on the interstate north of Markle. A copy of his email was read aloud at Wednesday’s council meeting.
“I was fortunate to break down near your town thank God,” Frantz said. “Everyone we have had contact with in your town has been very helpful, kind and welcoming which made me feel very welcome. From the sheriff’s deputy who escorted our rig to your town, the staff at the Pickle restaurant, Tom at Markle 66, the towing company, everyone was very friendly and welcoming.”
He said he wanted to thank the town’s citizens for being kind and helpful, adding it “renewed (his) faith with humanity.”
President Matthew Doss read the letter and was complimentary of those who helped Frantz that day in early February.
“They’re thanking a towing company,” Doss stressed. “That’s awesome.”
In other business Wednesday, the council approved tax abatement compliance forms for Novae LLC.
The 2015 project included $3.17 million in manufacturing equipment, $188,350 in logistical equipment and $73,809 in IT equipment. The project added 114 jobs, up from the 80 estimated on the statement of benefits paperwork, and total salaries exceeding $6.87 million, exceeding the $2.4 million estimated on the statement of benefits.
