Yay! Our Summer Recreation guide is out. Check your child’s backpack for the list of events, or visit our website at https://tinyurl.com/3k928yct to print one.

We have more than 100 summer events, activities, lessons, concerts, and more for you to keep busy with between May-August. Most are free, and some require pre-registration, so sign up by emailing events@blufftonindiana.gov.

It’s been a hectic and exciting week.  The two princess tea parties with Sleeping Beauty last Saturday were terrific!

You will be happy to know that we made a few phone calls to the Scottish kingdom of DunBroch, and Merida, from the movie Brave, has agreed to join us next year. This high-energy princess will delight you with her wild adventure stories!

More than 425 people joined us for the Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday.  It was a very windy day, but I’m happy to report that all 4,000 eggs were found.  Special thanks to Friends of the Shelter for treating the dogs to a bone hunt and to our many volunteers who make these events possible.

Our first Paint Night in the Park for adults went really well, and we hope to be adding more to our calendar soon.

Right now, we are accepting registration for the kids’ Hue Can Paint class.  They will be painting the loveable yellow minion character at 6 p.m. Monday, May 23, at City Hall.

Kids will enjoy the step-by-step instructions from a local artist to take home. Not only will they leave with beautiful artwork, but they will also have a feeling of accomplishment as they master the painting techniques.

The cost is only $15 per person and includes all supplies and instructions. To register, call 824-6069 or e-mail events@blufftonindiana.gov. Space is limited to the first 12 participants!

This is the last weekend to turn in your Bark in the Park contest photos.  Submit a picture of your furry best friend enjoying one of the city parks or trails on the Bluffton Parks Facebook page to be entered to win a dog prize by April 18.

Registration is going well for the Yoga, Brunch & Bubbly.  This is a great way to spend the morning with your mom, sister, or best friends!

The event is held at 9 a.m. the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, May 7th, at Washington Park. Registration is open online at https://tinyurl.com/35p7m3f6.

Senior Snippets starts on Monday, and this is a great way to meet new friends while learning something new.  Call 824-6069 to sign up for the free classes.

Summer Swim lesson registration is from 10 a.m. to noon May 7 at City Hall. Swim lessons are for children who have just finished grades K through 12. The cost is $20 due at registration.

Call the pool at 825-1550 for private lesson options beginning May 28.

Pee Wee swim registration is also on May 7 from 10 a.m. to  noon for ages 4 to pre-kindergarten. Lessons will be M-W-F the week of June 20th for $6.  Swim time is from 11 to 11:45 a.m., and a parent must get in the water with each child. No unattended children will be allowed on the pool deck during lessons.

This week we visited with the good people at Valero who will be taking time out of their schedule to give back to the community by volunteering this summer.  They plan to add beautiful flowers to Veteran’s Park and maintain them throughout the season.

We really appreciate the businesses in our town that reach out and lend a hand.  Thanks for all you do! .

Have a great week!
