Wells Superior Court

Criminal Cases

Lisa Rena Evans, 51, Bluffton, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.

Sentenced to two years in prison, with all but 120 days suspended, and placed on probation for 610 days. Credited for four days spent in confinement awaiting disposition of her case.

Ordered to serve 40 days of home detention upon release from incarceration, submit a DNA sample, and pay court costs and probation fees.

Charges of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, were both dismissed.

Officers responded to Evans’ home Aug. 21 on a report of a loud verbal altercation between Evans and a man, who also lived at the residence. The man was seated outside of the home and after speaking with officers reportedly told the investigating officer he had found “riggs” — a slang term for heroin — inside the house along with multiple syringes and a spoon with burned residue. He said he found the items hidden behind a microwave oven in a common area of the home and confronted Evans and a second woman at the residence about the drugs. Both denied it was theirs.

The man then retrieved a glasses case from a kitchen cabinet and handed it to an officer. Inside were three empty syringes, a thimble, and a silver spoon with a white residue. There was also a white ball with residue.

Officers then served a search warrant on the residence and in Evans’ bedroom of the home they reportedly found a bong, a broken pen with white residue, a straw with white residue, a glass smoking pipe, and a second straw containing white residue.

Ordered to pay a fine of $14.50 and court costs of $185.50.

One count of driving while suspended with a prior conviction for the same offense, a A misdemeanor, was dismissed.

On Aug. 11, 2021, sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 224 and 300W. Mahon was driving north on 300W when she drove her vehicle into the path of a westbound vehicle on U.S. 224.

During the course of investigating the crash, a deputy discovered that Mahon had five active suspensions against her driver’s license and her vehicle was not insured.
