Wells Superior Court

Criminal Cases

Kimberly N. Limbert, 34, Geneva, pleaded guilty to theft, a Class A misdemeanor.

Sentenced to a year in the Wells County Jail, with all but 10 days suspended. Credited for two days spent in confinement awaiting disposition of her case.

Ordered to pay court costs and probation fees.

As part of a plea agreement, five additional counts of theft, all Class A misdemeanors, were dismissed.

Limbert was charged with skip-scanning merchandise at the Bluffton Walmart Superstore between Oct. 22 and Nov. 27, 2021. Skip scanning is when a customer uses the self-checkout aisle of a store and then intentionally fails to scan some items but pays for others.

Limbert was charged with skip scanning more than 40 items during the period in which she was charged.

She was finally caught reportedly “ticket switching” at the Walmart on Nov. 27. Ticket switching is when a customer will switch the universal price code symbol on an expensive item with the UPC symbol from a less expensive item.

She reportedly noticed that she was being “flagged” by store personnel and discontinued the action. At the same time, Limbert allegedly consumed donuts and a Monster energy drink while she was still inside the store. She reportedly paid for both.

Limbert was charged with cheating Walmart out of $741.20 in merchandise.

Items that she was alleged to have skip scanned included tennis balls, toys, a Chewy Dip stick, Fabreeze laundry softener, clothing, a black light and a Shark skillet.
