Work will begin Tuesday, March 15, to install a pair of pedestrian crosswalks across Main Street/Ind. 1.

Bluffton Street Commissioner Tim Simpson said Wednesday that crews from Brooks Construction of Fort Wayne would be in the city Tuesday to begin the project. He said the work is expected to be done on or about May 1. Some preparatory work has already been started, he said.

The crosswalks will be installed across Main Street at Willowbrook to allow residents of that subdivision to access the Interurban rail on the west side of the road and also at the intersection of Dustman Road and Main Street.

“There will be signs up in the area and traffic may occasionally be restricted,” Simpson said.

The installation of the crosswalks is a combined effort of the city of Bluffton and the Indiana Department of Transportation.
