Spring officially begins this Sunday, March 20, 2022. I envision less stress, peaceful days, healthy meals, and having the time to do the things that are really important. How does a person go about getting these things? Why not take a brief time out? It has been a rough two years for everyone. Why not take a brief time out?
A brief time out might take a little planning. Like any good journey, one will need a map. Where will you go? What will you do? When will you do it? How will you get there? Let’s start to plan the beginnings of a much-needed brief time out.
What will you take on this interesting journey? Make it relaxing. Make it soothing. Make it enjoyable. Will you take a good book, some tea to sip, your favorite music, a notebook and a pen to journal your thoughts and your feelings? Maybe…
Some people take a physical time out. Some take an emotional time out. Some do both. Either way, start imagining the sweet aromas and the many blessings that can help to energize a person into renewed action.
A brief time out from what? A brief time out from:
* The uncertainty of the world we live in today.
* Attitudes of arrogance, competition, and
rudeness.
* Isolation and having to go it alone.
* Being constantly “essential” and available.
* Trying to do too much.
* Stress and depression.
* Facts & figures.
* The harsh reality of COVID – 19.
In order to experience a true brief time out, do things that add a certain amount of joy to life. Do things that are creative and fulfilling. Plan a respite from the demands and responsibilities of your daily schedule.
Are you doing a few too many things that you no longer enjoy? Are you doing too little of what you really want to be doing? Are you doing too many things that you really don’t do well? Are you doing the same old things when it’s past time for a change?
Today is the day. Dare to dream. Perceive it and plan it. Make a point to commit to fewer commitments. Think for a moment about which activities can be eliminated from your schedule. What is really no longer that important at this time? What can be immediately dropped, delayed, or delegated?
Spring is right around the corner. De-stress your life. And do whatever it takes to create your very own “ideal” brief time out.
