Clete Bailey’s visitation and funeral brought crowds of people to the Tower Life Center Church numbering more than any time in this town’s history.
In the early 1900’s a young man passed and it was noted there were 700 at the funeral.
Kenny and I taught the 4-year-olds at the Zanesville United Brethren Church. Clete was one of our church kids. He was so cute with sparkling eyes, a ready smile and a little round face. Our twins Jonathan and Jeremiah were also in that class and our grandson Shane sometimes visited. They all were willing to first listen to the Bible story if I would let them cook and play restaurant. I moved my kids’ play fridge, stove and sink to the classroom and made the members all aprons with pockets in them for their order pads. What fun this class was. All fourremained best friends forever.
I again enjoyed several little Clete’s at the ballpark helping Grandpa Ked and Grandma Clara get the diamond ready.
Our prayers are with this family as they all feel the loss. We need to remember to always talk about the good times and cherish them as precious memories. Clete will never be forgotten!
