EJ Tackett took a second-place finish in the PBA’s U.S. Open in Indianapolis on Sunday.

Tackett, who earned the No. 1 seed for the finals, lost 232-165 to the champion Anthony Simonsen. With the win, Simonsen became the youngest bowler in history to win three majors at 25 years old and 31 days.

Simonsen bowled six strikes in the first seven frames to take a commanding lead over Tackett, who opened four times in the first eight frames.

Tackett – a Bluffton resident – had a great week of qualifying as he led Simonsen, who was the No. 2 seed, by 502 pins after 56 games of qualifying over five days.

Tackett has won two majors in his career. He won the PBA World championship back in 2016 and the PBA Tournament of Champions in 2017. Had he beaten Simonsen, he would have become just the eighth bowler in history to complete the PBA Triple Crown.

Following Tackett in the final standings were Jason Belmonte, Adam Johnson, and Jake Peters.
