More than half of Indiana’s 92 counties are listed as “red” this week, indicating that they are at risk for high spread of the COVID-19 virus.
That does not include Wells County, which is once again in the “orange” category.
Wells has a two-week metric score of 2.5, placing it in orange. Indiana lists counties in four categories — blue, yellow, orange, and red — with orange considered at risk for moderate spread of the coronavirus.
According to the COVID-19 dashboard on the Indiana Department of Health’s website, 48 counties are in red this week after 27 were in that category last week. Forty-four Indiana counties are now listed as orange; last week’s total was 65.
Wells County had 39 new COVID-19 cases during the week. It had a 10.7 positivity rate. The county’s death toll from the virus remains at 118.
Four northeast Indiana counties — LaGrange, DeKalb, Allen, and Whitley — are listed as red this week. The others are all orange.
Most of the counties in northwest and central Indiana and along the Indiana/Illinois border are in red. Many of the counties in east central Indiana and south central Indiana are in orange.
