Monday, 4:24 p.m., Bluffton Police Department, 204 E. Market St. Woman reported she had been communicating with someone online and the person with whom she was communicating had sent her a check. When she tried to cash it, the teller at the bank where she tried to cash it told the woman the check was fraudulent.

Tuesday, 9:22 a.m., 600 block of North Main Street. Tire in the roadway. Officer removed the tire.

Monday, 4:46 p.m., residence on 300S east of 200E. Sheriff’s deputy assisted a man who got his powered wheelchair stuck in some mud.

ACCIDENTS

Monday, 5:21 p.m., Wabash Street at Oak Street. Ammar S. Abdulrahim, 24, Ossian, was driving a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck towing a trailer when the trailer came loose, traveled off the street and hit a no parking sign. Damage estimated at less than $1,000. Abdulrahim was cited for failure to register the trailer and operating a motor vehicle, trailer or semi without proper taillights and/or turn signals.

Tuesday, 7:38 a.m., Ind. 1 north of 500S. Courtney A. Goodwin, 24, rural Pennville, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Ind. 1 approaching 500S when she saw a vehicle come up behind her quickly. She was concerned that the vehicle was going to hit her from behind, so she pulled to the right, but the Suburban dropped off the right side of the road. Goodwin then over-corrected in returning the vehicle back to the road. It slid sideways, exited Ind. 1 into the ditch and then rolled one and a half times in the side yard of David Lovell, 3482E-500S. The Suburban then struck an I&M utility pole. Wells County EMS and Bluffton Fire Rescue were both dispatched to the scene, but Goodwin managed to exit the vehicle OK and declined transport to the hospital. Damage exceeded $10,000. 

ARRESTS

Donald Duane Conner, 40, Bluffton; criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,000.
