NMS girls basketball teams win AC tourney
Norwell Middle School’s seventh-grade girls’ basketball team won the Adams Central Tournament, defeating both Woodlan and Adams Central.
Norwell defeated Woodlan 56-19. Carlee Strunk and Elizabeth Dillon led Norwell in scoring with 12 points each. Haley Williamson added 8 points and 10 assists.
Norwell defeated Adams Central in the championship game 43-6. Williamson led the way in points with 12. Dillon and Alivia Green each added 8.
Norwell’s eighth-grade girls won the Adams Central Tournament by getting wins over Woodlan and Adams Central as well.
Norwell first defeated Woodlan 60-3 then defeated Adams Central 50-10 in the championship game.
Jada Dale scored 24 points in the tournament to lead Norwell. She was followed by Addie Norris with 18 and Vanessa Rosswurm with 15.
Rosswurm was also the team’s leading rebounder with 15 combined, and Dale and Watkins followed with eight each.
Norris was the leader in steals with 11.
Norwell also had a great day shooting the basketball, making 17 of 38 attempts from the 3-point line.
Norwell eighth-grade boys defeat St. Vincent
Norwell Middle School’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball team won 29-21 against St. Vincent.
Norwell led 16-12 at halftime then extended the lead to 8 points going into the fourth quarter.
St. Vincent fought back to come within 2 points, but Norwell got a score inside by Dane Delmark and made four free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.
Noah Schamerloh led Norwell with 11 points, and Brady Smith followed with 6.
