Colin Z. Andrews of Bluffton has filed his candidacy paperwork for the position of Wells County prosecuting attorney.
Andrews is currently unopposed for the Republican Party nomination for the position in the May 3 primary. If he stays that way once the filing deadline passes, it could potentially set up a race in the fall against the current Prosecuting Attorney, Andrew Carnall.
Carnall, a Democrat, had not yet filed seeking nomination for re-election to the position in the May Democratic primary.
Andrews is currently a deputy prosecutor with the Wells County Prosecutor’s Office and also is an owner of his Bluffton law firm Andrews & Crell P.C.
“Colin is a committed conservative and has spent the majority of his career working in the field of criminal law gaining a reputation as an effective and passionate attorney,” a press release said.
He and his wife, Lauren, live in Wells County with their seven children. They are involved in local community, church, and civic life.
“He is looking forward to the campaign season. Colin will be honored to serve as prosecutor and wholeheartedly commits to preserving and protecting the peace, safety, and dignity of all citizens of Wells County once elected,” the release said.
