Truman J. McClain, 76, of Montpelier, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born on April 28, 1949, in Hartford City, and was a lifetime resident of Blackford County. He married Sherri (Schmidt) McClain on May 13, 1969, in Montpelier.
Truman will be missed by his wife of over 56 years, Sherri (Schmidt) McClain of Montpelier; children, Kelly Penrod and Jeffery McClain, both of Montpelier; brothers, Adelma R. McClain and Keith A. McClain, both of Montpelier; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey L. McClain and Maymie L. (Bricker) McClain; and siblings, Douglas W., James E., Leo D. and Norman D. McClain, Betty Lou Sills.
Per Truman’s wishes there will be no viewing or services.
Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier.
