Hedy Vaughn, 88, of Bluffton, passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2026, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.
Hedy was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, on Sept. 29, 1937, to Burley and Smina (Brock) Lewis. She married Howard Vaughn Sr. in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on Jan. 16, 1954. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2014.
Hedy worked as a certified nurse’s assistant for many years, having worked at Caylor Nickel Clinic in Bluffton, as well as several area nursing homes. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Ellen (Tim) Hobbs, Alesia Hoffman and Kay Kramer, all of Bluffton; two sons, Howard (Makaye) Vaughn Jr. and Bill (Rhonda) Vaughn, both of Bluffton; a sister, Mary Brown of Williamsburg, Kentucky; along with 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hedy was preceded in death by a son, Neal Vaughn; three sisters, Ethel Turner, Perlina Cloud and Fannie Vallee; six brothers, Jake, Lacy, James, Jessie, Henry and Johnny Lewis; and two grandsons.
There are no public services planned at this time. Private burial will be held at Grove Cemetery of rural Poneto.
