Larry Gene Hartman, 71, of Poneto, passed away at 9:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.
He was born on Thursday, Sept. 9, 1954, in Hartford City. He married Sheryl L. (Wafford) Hartman on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1981 in Bluffton; she proceeded him in death on April 4, 2023. Larry was a 1972 graduate of Southern Wells High School. He worked for the Wastewater Dept. in Bluffton for 37 years. Larry was a member of the Wells Co. Coon Hunters. He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, spending time with his granddaughter, Kinsey, and watching the Miami Dolphins football and Purdue.
He will be forever missed by his son, Jeremiah G. Hartman of Poneto; former daughter-in-law, Amber Hartman of Bluffton; granddaughter, Kinsey Hartman of Bluffton; brothers, David D. (Kathy) Hartman of Camby and Aaron Hartman of Warren; and sister, Debra Bowen of Van Buren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl L. (Wafford) Hartman; father, Marvin E. Hartman; and mother, Nina Marie (Coleman) Hartman.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W Windsor St. in Montpelier, and one hour prior to service on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026.
A service to celebrate his life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home with Barry Crosbie officiating. Interment will follow in the Stahl Cemetery in Bluffton.
