Edna Eileen Springer, 94, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025 at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 29, 1931, at home in Lake Township, Allen County, Indiana. She was a daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (Palmer) Felger. 

Edna graduated from Arcola High School as Salutatorian and later graduated from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught with Fort Wayne Community Schools for four years and was a member at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Edna enjoyed bible study, teaching Sunday school and vacation bible school for many years, piano music and volunteering at Kingston Care Assisted Living. She was very active in LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) and traveled to attend national events. Edna loved her pets, and at one time cared for over 14 outdoor cats. She loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. Edna worked non-stop raising six children, while also canning and cooking fruits and vegetables from her home. She took pride in the fact that she had visited all 50 states. 

Edna is survived by her children, Gordon Springer of Ossian, Brad (Karen) Springer of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Marshall (Bonnie) Springer of Angola, Sharon (Eddie) Strange of Fort Wayne, Paul Springer, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Kay (Isaac) Sands of Ossian; grandchildren, Timothy Springer, Bradley (Amie) Springer, Zachary (Tasha) Springer, Justin Springer, Shane Springer, Greg (Nick Leopold) Shappell, Rebecca Shappell, Claire Sands and Ellie Sands; great-grandchildren, Bradley Springer II, Kenneth Springer, Maxwell Springer, Bennett Springer, Jada Springer, Jude Springer and Hallie Smith; and step-grandchildren, Justin (Danielle) Bertrand, Kelsey Bertrand, Griffin (Kendra) Bertrand, Bailey (Eric) Durbin, Anthony Strange and Nathan Strange. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Springer; sister, Martha (Felger) Neugebauer; and brother, Howard Felger. 

A funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 16933 Thiele Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor David Taylor will officiate. For those unable to attend the funeral service, it will be live streamed on Facebook- St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 2025. Burial will be at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
