Glen William Mygrant, 89, of Bluffton, passed away on Aug. 9, 2025, at his home.
He was born in Bluffton on Jan. 10, 1936, to Dallas and Esther Mygrant, (both deceased) in Bluffton. He went to school in Bluffton, and when he was 16, with the help of a friend, joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a very proud Marine, and once he got discharged, he married Georgeanna McBride on July 2, 1955, in Decatur at the Church of God.
This union of 70 years blessed them with four children, Marty W., Timothy L., Cristi A. Wall and Leslie S. Mygrant, and his daughter-in-law, (Les’s wife), Susan; along with seven grandchildren, Erik, Shiloh, Shawn, Josie, Jamie, Cory and Tyler; and 14 great-grandchildren, Turner, Darien, Ethan, Gavin, Braxton, Mavrick, Milia, Ashley, Auston, Axton, Hattie, Dravin, Raylyn and Hudson; plus three precious great-great-grandchildren, Blain, Oakley and Koe. He loved all his children and grandchildren.
He worked at Dana Corporation for 35 years, then when he retired, they bought a home in Bradenton, Florida, where they spent their winters as snowbirds and summers here in Bluffton, until his passing. He made many, many good friends in Bradenton. As a past time, he loved working on other people’s homes, putting in new windows and siding while he was in Florida. Always doing something, until he ran out of steam four years ago.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton for over 50 years and a member of the Elks Lodge 796 in Bluffton. He was also on The American Legion Honor Guard for many years. He loved doing this more than anyone realized, until he just couldn’t anymore.
His only surviving sibling is his sister, Helen Foreman. His Brothers, Max, Junior and Freddie; plus a sister Anna Louise are all deceased. His mother and father passed away when he was a young child. He and his siblings were raised by their grandmother, Effie Smith, (deceased). He also has many living nieces and nephews.
Glen loved sitting on his front porch with his wife, here and in Florida, and watching all the people pass by. He loved it when they stopped in to visit and talk a while. His front porches will miss him, along with Lacy, his constant four-legged companion.
