Barbara Jo Bowman (Thomson), 86, of Bluffton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Barbara was born in Wabash on April 3, 1938 to Dale Orville and Isabelle Clare Thomson.  She attended Wabash High School.  Barbara was known for her love, laughter and resilience.  Barbara married the love of her life, Douglas Bowman, on Jan. 10, 1975.  They shared 45 years of happiness together.  Barbara’s greatest joys in life were spending time with family, gardening and shopping for hidden treasures.  

Barbara found great joy working at Honeywell/MarcHon in Wabash and PHD in Huntington/Ft Wayne.  After retirement, Barbara spent her time volunteering at the Bargain Hut in Bluffton and wintering in Lake Placid, Florida. She was a member of Sonlight Wesleyan Church in Bluffton.

Barbara is survived by her six children Sam (Luanne) George of Lenexa, Kansas, Dana George Holmes (Tony) of Wabash, Laurie George White (Kenny) of Bluffton,  Angie George Welter (Jack) of Elkhart, Jennifer Bowman of Mishawaka, and Megan Bowman Alberding (Chris) of Decatur. Also surviving are her brothers David (Argyleen) Thomson of Wabash, and George (Connie) Thomson of Amboy, along with 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Bowman; her parents, Dale and Isabelle Thomson (Brown); her sister, MaryAnn (Don) Hapner; and brother Dale, a.k.a Whitey, (Marge) Thomson.  

A celebration of life is to take place at a later date.
