Knights place 2nd at NE8 girls’ golf meet
Norwell had quite the Northeast 8 Conference girls’ golf meet on Saturday.
The team finished second overall with a team score of 362, behind DeKalb at 331, who won the conference title for the second straight year. The course was at Cross Creek in Decatur.
Ellie Gatton earned first-team all-NE8 and tied for first overall, losing the playoff round to Grace Pfiester of DeKalb to earn her second place officially. Her score of 80 gave her first-team all-conference.
Savanna Simerman followed Gatton with an 87, good for second-team. Jordyn Schroyer was honorable mention for the Knights at 92.

Raiders notch winning record in volleyball with win
Southern Wells defeated Lakewood Christian on the road in straight sets on Saturday.
The scores were 25-23, 25-23 and 25-15. The Raiders’ record is now 8-7 on the season.
Abbie Powell led the team with 17 kills, 17 digs, five aces and 3.5 blocks. Kila Shelley had 10 kills, nine digs, four aces and two blocks. Kaylea Coffel had 14 digs and McKenna King 11 digs.
Southern Wells will be at Heritage at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Knights host first middle school volleyabll invite
Norwell completed in the first annual Norwell Invitational for middle school on Saturday.
Both the eighth grade and seventh grade teams played the same teams coincidentally finished 1-1 in group play and lost the final game for placement for fourth place. Yorktown swept both grades in first-place.
In the eighth grade games, Norwell defeated Heritage and fell to Blackhawk Christian. It then fell to St. Joseph in the third-place game.
In the seventh grade games, Norwell beat Heritage and lost to Blackhawk Christian. In the third match, they lost in two sets to St. Joeseph.
