An incident in downtown Bluffton Thursday morning resulted in a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a woman injured.
According to a press release from the Bluffton Police Department, law enforcement was dispatched to the 200 block of West Washington Street at approximately 7:24 a.m. on a report of a man entering a residence and shots fired. Police discovered the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries.
Neither individual was named in the press release, and the investigation is ongoing.
The woman was transported by EMS to Bluffton Regional Medical Center. She is believed to be a witness to the incident, the release states.
The Wells County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police also responded to the scene. The Wells County Coroner’s Office will determine the final cause and manner of death.
