Yay! We made it to summer. Splash pads are now up and running at Roush Park (925 W Silver) and Pickett’s Run Park (304 E Washington) from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Hours at the Wells Community Pool are 1-6 p.m. every day, weather permitting. You can now begin calling for private swim lessons by dialing 824-1550. Be sure to follow the Wells Community Pool on Facebook for weather-related updates. We hope to see you today on our opening day.
We are just a few weeks away from our first set of Kehoe Concerts. In last week’s article, we talked about Bayou County, a CCR Tribute band coming June 7, so this week, we want to highlight our second concert.
Mellencougar is the only tribute to John Mellencamp that has featured members of John’s actual band. Mellencougar is made up of musicians from the Midwest who have an appreciation for the danceable poetry of John Mellencamp.
Join us for a free concert on Friday, June 14, at Kehoe Park from 8-10 p.m. Bring your lawn chair and a few dollars to purchase something from the onsite food trucks Kenzie’s Coneys and Big Dipper or for drinks from 2 Pour Guys. (ID required)
Special thanks to Title Sponsors Wells County Foundation and ProFed Federal Credit Union. If needed, Bluffton High School, #1 Tiger Trail, will be the rain site.
We are happy to announce that Bluffton-Harrison MSD will continue bringing its summer meal program to Roush Park again this year. Join them for a Picnic in the Park on weekdays from June 3–July 26 (closed July 4-5). Thanks to a federally funded program, meals are free to children of any school district age 18 and under and must be eaten on sight. Adults who want to purchase a meal can do so for $3.40. Make sure you thank the kind cafeteria staff at Bluffton for working this summer to provide good nutrition for our community’s children.
Our popular Foam Party is scheduled for June 12, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Pickett’s Run. Bring a towel and wear your swimsuit to the Splash Pad on the corner of Washington and Bennett Street to play in huge piles of bubbly foam. This is a FREE drop-in event. Children will be invited into the foam by age groups, starting with the smallest visitors.
There is still time to sign up for the Summer Miles Challenge. Choose your challenge and complete your miles between June 1-Aug. 31. You can walk or run 100 miles, bike 250 miles, OR bike 500 miles.
Everyone gets a challenge t-shirt and a medal for completing their miles and joins our Strava group to track their miles automatically. Sign up online at https://tinyurl.com/yzexj7he.
