Knights defeat county foe Tigers in softball

Norwell beat its county rival Bluffton on the softball diamond 7-2 Friday night.

The Knights improved to a 13-7, while the Tigers fell to 10-13.

The Knights had seven hits, led by Jordan Markley’s 2-3 game. Kaydance Clark had a double and an RBI. Nevada Lenwell doubled.

The Tigers had eight hits, four from Averi Petty who went 4-4 with two doubles and a home run for one total RBI. Kayla Kiefer had a hit and an RBI.

Kayla Watkins got the win, throwing four innings and allowing two runs and four strikeouts. Kara Brown threw two innings and allowed no runs and struck out three. Sami Lemler threw an inning and struck out one.

Madyson Sonnigsen got the loss, allowing seven unearned runs in six innings.

Bluffton will play the winner of Adams Central and South Adams at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23 for the sectional semifinal.

Norwell will be at Winchester for a 10 a.m. doubleheader Saturday, May 18.

Raider no-hit by Warriors in softball season finale

Southern Wells fell 13-0 at home in its regular season finale to Woodlan Friday night.

The Raiders finished at 6-15 for the season and 0-6 in the ACAC.

The Raiders did not have a hit in the game, and the only base runner was Bristal Chapman, who walked.

Kyah Thomas picked up the loss in three innings.

Southern Wells will play Liberty Christian at home in the first round of the sectional at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 20.

Raiders fall to Warriors in baseball

Southern Wells lost 6-2 in its final regular season game at home Friday night.

The Raiders fell to 3-17 on the season, going 0-6 in the ACAC.

Southern Wells had 10 hits, led by Caleb Johnson’s 3-4 night and had two stolen bases. Robby Rreimuth, Jakob Gearheart and Rugar Holmes had two hits. Gearheart and Holmes with RBI.

Landon Johnson got the loss, throwing three innings and allowing five runs (two earned) and struck out two. Wyatt Yoder threw four innings and allowed an unearned run, two hits and struck out five.

Southern Wells will play Liberty Christian at Wes-Del starting at 5 p.m. Friday, May 24.

Knights beat Jets in JV softball game

Norwell defeated Adams Central 14-9 on the road in junior varsity softball Friday night.

The Knights had 15 hits in the game, led by Ella Smith and A. Nern with three each. Smith had two RBI. Alli Crow, Angie Rogers and Kaitlee Reinhard had two hits. Crow with a double and an RBI.

Carli Fausz got the win in three innings, allowing three runs (one earned).

Knights lose to Patriots in JV baseball

Norwell fell 3-1 to Heritage in junior varsity baseball Friday night.

The Knights tallied four hits in the game, one each by Trey Privett (double), Jaxson Dohrman, Cade Thornton and Brayden Huffman. Adam Mahnensmith had an RBI.

Dohrman got the loss, throwing six innings and allowing three runs (two earned) with five strikeouts.
