Tigers sweep Raiders in softball, finishes the original game
Bluffton and Southern Wells finished the final inning of their game back on Friday, April 26,.0.0 that was postponed three days later and was then postponed again. The games were played on Monday.
The Tigers defeated the Raiders 21-6, and then played a nonconference game afterward.
In the first game, the Tigers had eight hits, two from Averi Petty with a double. The Tigers got RBI from Marly Drayer, Isabella Stout, Konley Ault with a double, Jillian Phillippe, Addison Kauffman, Ella Borror and Kayla Kiefer. Tyrah Shaw also had three stolen bases.
Southern Wells had 10 hits, two from Kyah Thomas with an RBI, Maddy Sutton with two hits with two RBI and a double. Collena Reeves had two RBI.
Shaw picked up the win, throwing four innings and allowing no runs on three hits, striking out three.
Thomas had the loss for Southern Wells.
In Game 2, the Tigers won 20-5.
Bluffton had 14 hits, led by Ault with two hits, three RBI and a home run. Drayer, Petty and Madison Smith had two-hit games. Drayer with two RBI and Petty with a triple.
Southern Wells had 14 hits as well, two from Thomas, Sutton and Gracie Reeves. Reeves had two doubles and Sutton one. Lilly Roe, Sutton and Collena Reeves had two RBI.
Madyson Sonnigsen got the win, throwing five innings, five runs (three earned), no walks and four strikeouts.
Kaylea Coffel got the loss.
Bluffton will host Heritage at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.
Southern Wells will host Woodlan at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9.
Knights shutout Riverview in middle school girls’ soccer
Norwell’s girls’ soccer team pitched a 3-0 shutout over Riverview on Monday.
Vivian Branham scored the first goal, followed by Hadie Isch and Lilly Holmes.
Maggi Neuenschwander and Phoenix Whitsitt were in net, and the defense allowed zero Riverview shots on goal.
Knights top Raiders in middle school golf match at Dogwood
The Norwell Middle School golf team went to Dogwood Glen on Monday and defeated Southern Wells 262-319.
Leading the Knights was Easton Pine, who shot a 44 and was the medalist. Cash Fegley shot a 48 and Westin Miller 53.
