Tigers beat Panthers in baseball, now 8 wins in a row
Bluffton continued its winning ways on the baseball diamond Monday night, defeating Eastbrook at home 17-7 in five innings.
The win is now eight in a row for the Tigers, and 10 of their last 11. Bluffton is also 7-1 at home and has improved to an 11-5 overall record.
The Tigers put together 16 hits and took advantage of four Panther errors. Dane Schlagenhauf went 4-4 to lead the Tigers, hitting a double and driving in two. Lukas Gehrett ripped his second home run of the season and went 3-4 with four RBI. Braxton Betancourt, Eli Garrett and Axton Beste had two hits in the game.
Beste got the win on the mound, throwing three innings and allowing three runs on two hits and struck out four.
Bluffton will play for the ACAC championship at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, pending weather.
Knights improve to 3-1 in NE8 softball play over Barons
Norwell shut out DeKalb in home NE8 softball Monday night.
The Knights improved their conference record to 3-1 and overall record to 8-5.
Of the 14 hits, Kara Brown had four of them and drove in one. Brown’s average is now up to .590 on the season. Jordan Markley went 3-4 with a solo home run. Leah Werling drove in two with a home run. Kaydance Clark and Nevada Lenwell added doubles and an RBI.
Sami Lemler picked up the win, throwing four innings, two hits and no runs, striking out seven and walked one. Brown threw a perfect inning and struck out two.
Norwell will be at Huntington North at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.
Knights edge Lions in road NE8 girls tennis victory
Norwell edged out Leo 3-2 in Northeast 8 Conference girls’ tennis on the road Monday night.
Norwell’s record improves to 11-2 with the victory.

Tigers top the Patriots in boys golf at Timber Ridge
Bluffton won the solo contest with Heritage in boys’ golf Monday at Timber Ridge Golf Course.
The Tigers scored a 192 and the Patriots 202.
Leading Bluffton was Conner Klopfenstein with a score 45, followed by Declan Griser Kade Abbett (46), Anthony Hartman (55) and Max White (56).
Bluffton’s junior varsity team also won by a score of 202-216. Leading the way on JV was Chris Castenada with a score of 52, followed by Kyler Potter and Will Ault (53), Hutch Craighead (58) and Landon Crist (60). Connor Collins (62) and Graham Linderwell (66) also participated.
Bluffton will host Northfield at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.
Tigers fall to Braves in girls’ tennis match
Bluffton fell to Bellmont 4-1 on the road in girls’ tennis Monday night.
The loss puts the Tigers at 5-9 on the season.

Tigers and Jets play in middle school tennis
Bluffton competed at Adams Central in a middle school tennis Monday night.
The rounds were of 20 minutes each.

Knights fall to Chargers in junior varsity baseball
Norwell was edged out on the road against Carroll in junior varsity baseball 3-2 on Monday.
The Knights had four hits compared to the Chargers three. Trey Privett had two of them, one of which was a double. Luke Ward and Nick McBride had the others. Will Case and Ward had the RBI.
Palmer Krug picked up the loss, throwing five innings and allowing three runs. Brayden Huffman threw one perfect inning in relief.
