postponed in third inning

Bluffton and Southern Wells matchup in Poneto got to the middle of the third inning before rain caused a postponement Friday night.

The Tigers were up 8-0 in the ACAC contest, and the game will be made up on Monday. A time has not been decided yet.

Kayla Kiefer for the Tigers drilled an RBI double down the left field line to get the Tigers up 2-0. Then, after a passed ball and double steal putting them up 4-0, Tressa Renner tripled to right field and scored two more. 

Marly Drayer hit an RBI single in the next inning, followed by Claire Craighead taking home.

Tyrah Shaw was on the mound for Bluffton, and got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the second inning with a strikeout.

Raiders win Eagle Invite 

in middle shool track

Southern Wells Middle School won in both the boys and in the girls at the Eagle Invitational at Churubusco Friday night.

The win included the girls 4×400 team breaking another school record and Eagle Invite meet record, as they finished with a time of 4:47.13. The team consisted of Holly Pearson, Reese Prible, Grace Rogers and Laren Schneider.

Other event winners were:

Boys

• John Schneider in the 110m hurdles.

• Adam Aulbach in the 100m and in the high jump.

• Logan Leas in the 1600m and in the long jump.

• The 4x100m relay team of Hunter Durham, Isaac VanDeman, Trenton Hesher and Aulbach.

• Hunter Durham in the 400m.

• Brayden Williams in the 200m hurdles.

• The 4x400m relay team of Chase Kirkwood, Leas, Vance Mounsey and Durham

Girls

• Bailey Jenkins in the 100m hurdles.

• Aubree Neuenschwander in the 1600m and broke a meet record.

• The 4x100m relay team of Kameron Hawkins, Kyan Johnson, Leighann Carpernter and Jekins.

• Carpenter in the 200m hurdles and broke a meet record.

• Grace Rogers in the 800m and broke a meet record.

Knights win tri-match in middle school golf meet 

Norwell’s Middle School golf team won their first tri-match in program history Thursday night.

The Knights topped Central Noble and Oak Farm at Cobblestone Golf Course.

Norwell had a team score of 187, Central Noble 198 and Oak Farm 216.

Knights fall in MS soccer

Both Norwell Middle School soccer teams fell at Crestview Tuesday night.

The boys fell 2-1 to the Cougars. Ciioer Nagel scored the goal for the Knights.

In the girls game, Crestview won 3-0.
