Norwell’s Addyson Heyerly inked with Trine University Friday morning at the high school to continue her tennis career.
The senior, and Knights’ No. 1 singles player, got together with family, friends and coaches for signing day.
“I’m really excited to move on to the next level and do something I love,” Heyerly said after she finalized the pen to paper on her letter of intent.
The Thunder will be getting a first-team all-conference singles player in Heyerly. She helped the Knights win Northeast 8 and sectional championships last season.
Heyerly shared that she loved the campus and it was the perfect size and community. She plans on studying elementary and special education.
Another reason for her commitment to the Thunder was the coaching staff. Head coach Erin Kolar and assistants made it clear they wanted her to be a part of the roster.
“They were really nice and they made me feel welcome, like I was valuable,” She said.
She is still not sure if she will stick to singles or doubles at the college level, but what’s for certain is that she will be joining a winning program. Trine has finished its last two seasons at 11-7 to complete five straight seasons of winning records except for the COVID-19 season that lasted only nine games.
Heyerly will finish up her final season with Norwell’s tennis team in the spring and is currently wrapping up her swimming season as well.
