Marcia Hotopp, Connie Brubaker, and Lynn Elliott each took a part of Wells County for their book “History of Wells County Public Schools: 1838-2022.” The club meeting is at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Ossian, 1001 Dehner Drive.

The trio of writers will discuss how early settlers became successful farmers, lawyers, judges, doctors, bankers, and other vocations, with only an eighth-grade education.

Hotopp is from rural Bluffton and taught at Bluffton Middle School. Brubaker is from Markle; she drove a school bus and also worked with students in the classroom. Elliott lives in Bluffton and was the secretary at Southern Wells Elementary School for many years.

The Aug. 3 meeting of the Ossian Rotary Club will be a tour of the new Norwell Middle School with Principal Andrew Enderly, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
