Five area residents participated in a ceremonial rendering of the Oath of Enlistment into the Indiana Army National Guard Wednesday evening in the armory on East Spring Street. At right is Major Devin Seguin, who recited the oath. Participants in the ceremony were, left to right, Simon Hanes, a senior at Bluffton High School; Emma Baumgartner, a senior at BHS; Lillian Sroufe, a senior at BHS; Jesse Matlock, a junior at BHS; and Kristin Wynn, a student at Ball State University who is a 2022 graduate of South Adams High School. Not participating in Wednesday’s ceremony were David Merritt, who is enrolled in Special Forces training; Nelson Knapke, who is at Ranger school; Taylor Dague, a graduate of South Adams; and Andrew Henning, a senior at Southern Wells High School.
