City:

Thursday, 2:40 p.m., 1250 S Wayne St. Report of two males bent down on the east side of the street and looking toward the school. The men advised they were just on break from work. 

Thursday, 5:08 p.m., Praxis. Woman walked away from the center. Located and transported back to Praxis at 5:33 p.m. The woman advised she was unsatisfied with her treatment and wanted to speak to her father. 

Thursday, 6:14 p.m., East Townley and South Mulberry Streets. Car parked on the roadway causing a traffic hazard. Vehicle moved.

Thursday, 7:18 p.m., 641 S Marion St. Abandoned vehicle. Made contact with the owner, who advised his daughter had been driving it. The owner stated he would be picking it up on Saturday and would tell her to move it in the meantime. 

Thursday, 7:28 p.m., Praxis. Woman walked away from the center. Located at 7:35 p.m. Woman did not want any help from law enforcement, but seemed of sound mind. Advised she was just going to walk and did not want transport from law enforcement. 

Thursday, 9:59 p.m., South Scott and East South Streets. Caller reported an out-of-control bonfire nearby. Officer determined the fire was contained, but advised not to put any more wood on the fire due to the height of the flames. 

Friday, 12:35 a.m., Citgo. Burglar alarm. Doors secured.

Friday, 9:25 a.m., 2436 Summerwood Ct. Property damage accident between a car and a dump truck. No injuries. Report to follow. 

Friday, 9:50 a.m., 702 N Main St. Found bag with an ID and makeup in the river. 

Friday, 11:45 a.m., All Store. Report of two people unresponsive in a vehicle between two storage units. Male transported to the Wells County Jail on drug charges and the woman was released from the scene. 

Friday, 12:15 p.m., Walmart. Report of a semi idling behind the store for nearly three hours. Caller advised the driver could stay to sleep if he shut the truck off. 

Friday, 1:32 p.m., South Marion and West Silver Streets. Provided transport for passengers of a broken down vehicle.

Thursday, 12:23 p.m., Southern Wells Schools. Citation issued for speeding.

Thursday, 2:56 p.m., North 100E and East 800N. Citation issued for 89 in a 45 mph zone.

Thursday, 4:32 p.m., South 700W and Southeast Jeff Road. Stop sign bent the intersection. Highway department notified. 

Thursday, 9 p.m., Wendy’s, Bluffton. Trash moved from the roadway. 

Thursday, 9 p.m., Hardees, Bluffton. Deputies received notice a woman who had an active warrant for her arrest was at this location. Angela Castleman, 31, Huntington, was arrested for failing to appear in court. In a search of her backpack, a deputy located a syringe, which was turned over as evidence. No bond was set. 

Friday, 8:55 a.m., residence on Ind. 124, Bluffton. Burglar alarm. House secured. 

Friday, 10:26 a.m., residence on South Meridian Road. Caller reported their tires were slashed on their mower and ATV. A bicycle was also stolen from their barn.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Thursday, 4:37 p.m., Ind. 1. Lee M. Breedlove, 33, Bluffton, was driving a Ford F-150 pick-up truck and side swiped a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by Anna M. Wayman, 59, Bluffton, while changing lanes. Breedlove’s vehicle had scratches down the entire length of the passenger side and Wayman’s vehicle had large scratches and a dent on the driver side rear. Breedlove was cited for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility. Damage exceeded $2,500. 

County:

Thursday, CR 600W, Mount Zion. Landen A. Warner, 20, Markle, was driving a 2023 Kaw Vulcan S motorcycle, southbound on CR 600W when a deer entered the roadway. Warner laid down the motorcycle on its side to avoid collision with the deer and caused the bike to slide along the roadway. The bike received damage to its rear saddlebag, left side of the gas tank, shift linkage, headlight and left foot peg. Warner had road rash on his arms, but denied treatment by EMS. The motorcycle was pushed down the road to a family member’s property. Damage exceeded $2,500. 

FIRES

Thursday, 3:38 p.m., 1211 Lancaster St., Bluffton. Report of a gas leak. Bluffton Fire Department responded. Gas shut off at 3:50 p.m. House aired out and OK at 4 p.m.

Thursday, 10:29 p.m., Praxis. Fire alarm. Building evacuation in progress at 10:31 p.m. Bluffton Fire Department responded. It was determined that burnt popcorn had triggered the system. 

Thursday, 10:16 a.m., Praxis. Fire alarm. Determined to be triggered by a vape, which was confiscated.

ARRESTS

Zander Leigh Gardenour, 19, Bluffton; pickpocketing at least $750 but less than $50,000, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $6,000.
