Tigers stomp Patriots in ACAC baseball
The Bluffton baseball team won in a rout at Jay County 12-1 in conference play Thursday.
The Tigers now sit in third place in the Allen County Athletic Conference standings with a 3-1 record, trailing Heritage and Woodlan, who are undefeated.
Andrew Onuegbu and Braxton Betancourt led the team with three hits each. Onuegbu hit a double and brought in two runs.
Austin Lewis drilled two home runs in the game, driving in a team-high three RBIs.
Betancourt got the win, throwing six complete innings in the game ending in a mercy rule, allowing one run, four hits, and struck out 11.
Bluffton will host Adams Central at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 5.
Norwell escapes East Noble with NE8 baseball win
Norwell’s baseball team traveled to East Noble and barely escaped with a 5-4 victory Thursday.
The win keeps the Knights unbeaten in conference play, improving to 3-0.
Trey Bodenheimer led the way with two hits. Drew Graft had the only extra-base hit for the Knights and drove in two runs.
Lleyton Bailey got the win for Norwell, throwing six innings, allowing four runs, six hits, and struck out seven. Brody Bolyn earned the save in a scoreless frame.
Norwell will host Guerin Catholic for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6.
Tigers fall to Squires in girls’ tennis
Bluffton’s girls’ tennis team was swept by Manchester on the road Thursday.
Results for varsity:
• Sarah Kerlin defeated Emma Schwartz 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles.
• Myla Crozier defeated Gretchen Crist 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.
• Bethany Penrod defeated Hazel Pfister 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles.
• Delani Henderson and CArleigh Blevins defeated Alexis Grover and Eve Corkwell 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles.
• Addison Brubaker and Kate Schroll defeated Avery Hunt and Kinzie Fiechter 6-3, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.
The junior varsity team also lost 7-0.

Knights defeat Carroll in softball
Norwell’s softball team hosted Carroll in a 4-0 shutout Thursday.
Jordan Markley led the team in hits with two, including a double and an RBI. Kaydance Clark drove in a run with a double as well.
Kayla Watkins pitched the seven-inning shutout, allowing five hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts.
Norwell will host Homestead at 5 p.m. Friday, May 5.
Raider fall defeated by Warriors in boys’ golf
The Southern Wells boys’ golf team fell on the road to Wes-Del Thursday.
The team lost by a team score of 201-223.
Southern Wells’s individual leader was Chandler Oswalt who shot a 49, followed by Quinton Mullins who shot a 54, Tristen Worster 59, and Bailey Couch 61.
Southern Wells will be at the Bi-County match starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 6.
Bluffton routed by Jay County in softball
Bluffton’s sotball team had a tough roadtrip to Jay County, falling 1-0 to the Patriots in conference play.
Kayla Kiefer and Claire Craighead were the only two Tigers with hits.
Lily King received the loss.
Bluffton will be at home to face ACAC foe Adams Central starting at 5 p.m. Friday, May 5.
Norwell defeats East Noble in JV baseball
Norwell’s junior varsity baseball team won at home 13-3 against East Noble Thursday.
Norwell only mustered six hits in the game and took advantage of six East Noble errors.
Korben Nuenschwander drove in three runs with a double, as did Noah Turk. Gary Riley had two RBIs with a double.
Max Babcock got the win, throwing three 1/3 innings with three earned runs on two hits, striking out five.
Norwell will host South Adams at 6 p.m. Friday, May 5.
Knights fall to Tigers in MS tennis
The Norwell middle school tennis team fell to Bluffton on Wednesday.
The lone winners on the varsity team were Lucy Gerbers and Braylon Trout.

Knight boys win, girls tie MS soccer games
Norwell’s middle school soccer teams split the two games against Riverview Thursday.
The boys’ team won 3-0. Goals were scored by Brayden Huffman (2) and AJ Bunn.
The girls’ team tied 0-0 in the game. Head coach Dan Batdorff shouted out Haddie Isch, Avery Elmore, Gabby Gill, Kaylee Bennett, and Lilly Homes for their good performances and scoring chances.
Norwell will play next at 5 p.m. Monday, May 8, at home against Summit.
