I think we got used to some warm weather because, as I write this column on April 17, it is cold and I had to turn my furnace back on!

It was 46 years ago in the evening that Kenny and I headed for Bluffton as I was having labor pains for our sixth child. Of course then we didn’t have ultrasounds you just relied on the heart beat and there was only one. That was what we and the doctor were planning on but a few minutes after Jonathan was born there appeared another baby boy! The kids had called everyone and told them on the first that we had twin boys so nobody believed them when we really did! Happy birthday boys.

We have many grandchildren born to our kids. The grandchildren now number 30 and the great-grandchildren 17 and another one will be added in October. Our number will soon be 16 girls and 32 boys. Now you know why we rent something for family gatherings

You can now put a time to the old time baseball game on July 29. The Drovertown Black Flag Baseball Team will be playing on the Lions Balldiamond at 11:30 a.m. We are looking for volunteers to play against this team. They play the rules of 1869 and they use no gloves! They say they will pitch and throw “gently.” They provide a different kind of baseballs and all the other equipment so you just come ready to play. The game will last about 1 1/2 hours and they will explain the rules to the players and the spectators. This should be a fun time . The team is from the Huntington area and Drovertown was an ancient name for Huntington so I am told. If you play baseball or softball you are welcome to call me and volunteer. We need nine players. My number is 260-638-4327.

I am also accepting volunteers for the day of our 175 year celebration on Saturday, July 29. We need car show helpers and judges. We also need workers at the ballpark. Some jobs will be set down ones.

I have news from several who are suffering from cancer so it is time to send up many prayers for them. At the same time, pray for our country and our leaders.
