Wednesday, 12:28 a.m., Almco Steel Products, Bluffton. Driver noticed a man in dark clothing looking in the windows of this business. A deputy made contact with the man, who was just walking a dog. 

Wednesday, 7:53 a.m., Ind. 116 and 110W. Citation issued for speed. 

Wednesday, 10:14 a.m., Ind. 124 and 400W. Citation issued for speed. 

Wednesday, 3:37 p.m., Main Street and Lamar Street. Biker in the roadway causing issues. Unable to locate. 

Wednesday, 3:42 p.m., residence on Central Avenue. Requested standby during property retrieval. 

Wednesday, 5:50 p.m., 100E and 100N. Citation issued for speeding.

Wednesday, 6:23 p.m., Indiana Street and Ohio Street. Juvenile threatening to beat up another juvenile at Roush Park. Juvenile chasing after the other. Parties separated. 

Wednesday, 9:40 p.m., residence on Wiley Avenue. Unsecured premises. House cleared and secured. 

Wednesday, 10:27 a.m., Praxis. Patient missing from facility. Last seen at 7 p.m. At 1:07, Bella Vita Salon advised she had been inside in past five minutes. Subject located at 1:27 p.m.

Wednesday, 4:12 p.m., 300W and 200N. Citation issued for 72 in a 55 mph zone. 

Wednesday, 8:53 p.m., residence on 300W, Markle. Report of a woman at this location screaming. Deputy made contact with the property owner, who wanted her mother to leave the property. 

Wednesday, 9:17 p.m., 3073S Main Street, Liberty Center. Vehicle broke down near the old Helena plant. Vehicle owner advised he was getting ready to tow it. 

Wednesday, 11:06 p.m., 228 Columbian Avenue, Bluffton. Nathan Thomas Nusbaumer, 43, Bluffton, arrested on warrant for domestic battery simple assault, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $25,000. Upon arrival at the jail, a small glass jar containing a clear, crystal-like substance in the breast pocket of his shirt. The jar and its contents were taken into evidence. 

Thursday, 4:56 a.m., 600W Maple Road. Anhydrous tank leaking. Fire department called to mitigate the situation. 

Thursday, 6:26 a.m., Ind. 1 and 350N. Vehicle hit a raccoon. 

Thursday, 7:33 a.m., 100E and 100N. Vehicle changing a flat tire in the southbound lane. Provided cover for subjects. 

Thursday, 9:50 a.m., South Hoosier Highway and 250S. Driving complaint regarding a tan Ford Taurus weaving in and out of traffic. 

Ossian:

Tuesday, 4:32 p.m., residence on Metts Street. Resident reported his son’s girlfriend had climbed in the window to take his bike. While speaking with the resident and his son, the son’s girlfriend was observed walking down the street. The deputy made contact with the woman, who admitted to breaking but would not state what she took. The deputy noted she smelled strongly of alcohol, was slurring her words, and had an “abusive attitude.” The woman said she wanted to go home, and would not cooperate with the deputy. She was eventually detained and refused a portable breath test. The complainant said he did not want to press charges. The deputy warned both the woman and the complainant for disorderly conduct and all parties went back to their residences. 

Tuesday, 9:32 p.m., Ossian Deli. Hit and run. Corey Matthew, 42, reported a black truck had backed into his vehicle on the rear passenger side and pulled away quickly. The deputy observed gray paint transfer on Matthew’s 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. A sergeant informed the deputy that he had located the driver of the truck, Alvin Morton Smith, 62. Smith stated he was unsure if he had the other vehicle, but there was damage to his rear driver’s side that he had not seen before. 

Wednesday, 5:50 p.m., residence on Shady Lane. Caller advised they were almost hit by their grandma’s friend. Parties separated.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Wednesday, 10:37 a.m., Walmart. Sarah R. Woosley, 41, Bluffton, was driving a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck  in the parking lot of Walmart and, while looking in her rear view mirror, stuck a concrete post stop sign. Pemberton’s Towing arrived for the vehicle and, after loading the truck, failed to see the sign post and backed into it. This action made a second crease on the hood of Woosley’s vehicle. Damage exceeded $2,500. 

Wednesday, 12:49 p.m., Walmart. Della M. Steffan, 75, Bluffton, was driving a 2021 Toyota Camry in the Walmart parking lot and struck a stop sign post with the front driver’s side of her vehicle. Damage did not exceed $1,000. 

Wednesday, 4:04 p.m., Silver Street at Jersey Street. Diane B. Curran, 75, Bluffton was driving a 2007 Ford Focus southbound on Jersey Street and accidentally ran through a stop sign at Silver Street in front of a 2007 Chevrolet Express driven by Zachary L. Bedwell, 40, Bluffton. Bedwell’s vehicle struck Curran’s on the rear side bumper and quarter. Damage exceeded $1,000.

Tuesday, 9:31 p.m., Jefferson Street, Ossian. Alvin M. Smith, 62, Bluffton, was backing a 2018 Toyota Tacoma out of a parking spot at Ossian Deli and side swiped a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu owned by Corey Matthew, 42. Smith then left the scene, unaware he had hit anything. Damage exceeded $2,500. 

Wednesday, Ind. 116 at Matthews Street, Murray. Corey C. Gaudette, 40, Markle, was traveling northwest on Ind. 116 in a 2014 Toyota Camry when a deer ran into the roadway and he was unable to avoid collision. Damage exceeded $1,000. 

FIRES

Tuesday, 2:49 p.m. Grass fire reported at Wells County Roads 800N and 150E. The fire was a small working ditch fire and was under control.

Tuesday, 9:18 p.m. Strong smell of burning wire reported at West Walnut and South Johnson streets in Bluffton. Bluffton Utilities called to check transformers.

Wednesday, 2:34 p.m., Memory Lane and Serenity Trail, Bluffton. Grass fire. Bluffton Fire Department responded. Fire under control at 2:43 p.m.

Wednesday, 7:51 p.m., 1007 South Jersey Street, Bluffton. Structure fire. Bluffton Fire Department responded. Fire under control at 8:02 p.m.

Thursday, 4:56 a.m., 600W Maple Road, Bluffton. Anhydrous tank leaking. Tank shut off at 5:09 a.m.

ARRESTS

Daniel William Graham, 30, Bluffton; probation violation. No bond set. 

Anthony Ty Juan Romonte Rowles, 33, Fort Wayne; driving a vehicle while suspended ­­— prior suspension within 10 years, a Class A misdemeanor.
