Tigers edge past Apaches baseball

The Bluffton baseball team had a narrow 6-5 victory over Wabash Friday afternoon on the road.

The Tigers improved to 5-2 in the early season with the win.

This was a game scheduled late due to the Bluffton game against Oak Hill tomorrow being canceled.

Braxton Betancourt had a four-for-four performance at the plate with two extra-base hits and two RBIs. Drew Pressler had a three-hit day.

Starter Andrew Onuegbu got the win on the mound for Bluffton going four innings, allowing five runs (three were earned), and striking out seven. Onuegbu also had a two RBI base hit in the game.

Betancourt threw in relief to shut the door in the last three innings. He allowed no runs and no hits and struck out five.

Bluffton will host Norwell at 5 p.m. Monday, April 17.

Knights fall to Patriots in softball

The Norwell softball team dropped a 3-1 game at Jay County Friday.

The Knights are now 2-2 on the year.

Norwell mustered four hits in the game, recorded by Delaney Connett, Sami Lemler, Nevada Lenwell, and Teagan Lesley. All were singles.

Kayla Watkins went the distance, throwing six innings and allowing three unearned runs, striking out one.

Norwell will host South Adams for a doubleheader starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15.

Norwell defeats East Noble in JV baseball

The Norwell baseball team beat East Noble on the road Friday.

Two Norwell Knights had multi-hit games, Gary Riley and Schamerloh. Eight players had RBIs in the game.

Adam McBride recorded the only extra-base hit in the game with a double.

Schamerloah got the win on the mound going seven innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits, striking out 10.

Norwell will travel to Adams Central at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 18.

Raiders lose to Bruins in baseball

Southern Wells baseball team fell 13-3 against Blackford on the road Friday.

The Raiders dropped to 3-5 on the season with the loss.

Carson Smith, Jenson Nusbaumer, Kedrik Sonnigsen, and Rugar Holmes tallied hits in the game. Nusbaumer and Smith had doubles.

Nusbaumer allowed one run in 2 2/3 in the game.

Southern Wells will be on the road against South Adams in a nonconference game starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 17.
