Raiders defeat Panthers in baseball
Southern Wells improved its record to 3-4 on the season with a 15-11 victory over Eastbrook Tuesday on the road.
Four Raiders, Jenson Nusbaumer, Caleb Johnson, Kedrik Sonnigsen, and Bryar Gearheart, had two-hit games and at least an RBI.
Carson Smith roped a double to drive in three runs and stole three bases for the Raiders.
Despite allowing all 11 runs, Cody Perdue got the win on the mound. Sonnigsen threw three innings in relief, allowing no runs, and struck out three.
Southern Wells will travel to Blackford at 5 p.m. Friday, April 14.
Knights edge Tigers in JV baseball
The Norwell junior varsity baseball team won the hard-fought battle between two Wells County schools Wednesday afternoon as the Knights beat Bluffton 7-6 at home.
Bluffton took a 5-2 lead with a five-run inning early on, but the Knights chipped away and took the lead back for good in the fourth. The Tigers had one run in the seventh inning but couldn’t manage the final one to tie.
Kline Nuenschwander led the Knights going three-for-four with a double and two RBIs.
Gary Riley, Noah Schamerloh, and Noah Turk all had multi-hit games for Norwell.
Ryne Thornton got the win on the mound, going three 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on five hits and six strikeouts.
C. Williams got the loss for the Tigers.
Schlagenhauf was the only Tiger with multiple hits, as he tacked on two base hits.
G. Sawyer tacked on a double and drove in two RBIs.
Norwell will travel to Concordia in its next game starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13.
Bluffton will host Adams Central at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 13.
Tigers stay hot in softball with win over Generals
The Bluffton softball team picked up its second win in a row, topping Wayne on the road 9-6 Wednesday afternoon.
Isabella Stout drilled a double and a triple, driving in 2 RBIs. Claire Craighead had a double and 2 RBIs.
Tyrah Shaw started and completed the game, earning the win on the mound. Shaw struck out seven generals in the game.
Bluffton will go for three in a row as it hosts Southwood at 5 p.m. Monday, April 17.

Jadyn Yencer singled and later scored thanks to an Emma Parks RBI single.
Southern Wells will travel to North Side at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13.
