What a great week it has been, with the sun finally deciding to show up and temperatures getting above 50 degrees. I hope that you have been able to get outside for some fresh air before the next cold snap visits again.

We are starting to formalize the 2023 wellness events and decided to bring some events back after a hiatus. If you are looking for motivation to get moving, add these events to your calendar. Don’t worry, we kept many of your favorites too.

Feb. 4 – Chilly Chili Trail Run (5 or 3-mile events)

April 22 – Earth Day 5K (IT’S BACK)

May 13 – Power Wheels in the Park (power wheels, bikes)

June 15 – Chicks Run

June 17 – Fastest Kid in Town

June 29 – Super Hero 5K & Obstacle Course

June 29 – Light Up the Night Bike Ride

July 8 – Iron Kids Triathlon (IT’S BACK)

Sept. 2 – Parlor City Trot

Sept. 23 – Walk Steady for Rock Steady

Nov. 4 – WOOF Trail Run (5, 10, 15 miles)

We are still working out dates for our 5-in-5 series and other fun ones.

Attention families with wee ones, the next Tot Time special event is a Block Party on Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. in the Bluffton City Gym. Block Party events provide an opportunity for parents to interact and play with their children while learning how they can help them develop a variety of skills through block play. Five stations are set up, each with a different set of blocks that aids the children in learning a specific skill. Parents are provided with parenting tips and information on how they can help their children develop each skill to the best of their ability. This is a FREE drop-in event.

Daddy Daughter Dance ticket sales are in full swing. Stop by the Clerk Treasurer’s office at City Hall Monday-Friday between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to get signed up. Tickets are only $5 per person.

The dance will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, at the 4-H community building from 6-8 p.m. The evening will include a fun night of dancing, refreshments, and a photo area. Pictures will be posted on the Bluffton Parks Facebook page. This year’s theme is Medieval Masquerade – A “knight” to Remember. Come dressed to impress in the theme, or wearing purple is encouraged.

Last year’s Mother-Son event was literally a blast, so this year’s event will be another Mother/Son Nerf Wars (Minecraft Mania Edition)! Stop by the Clerk Treasurer’s office at City Hall to purchase your tickets.

The Mother/Son Nerf War will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, at the 4-H community building from 2-3:30 p.m. Tickets are only $5 per person and include an epic afternoon of Nerf games, refreshments, and a photo area. Come dressed in Minecraft attire, or blue is encouraged. Mother and Sons must bring their own Nerf guns that take regular Nerf bullets and safety glasses. No bullets are needed; regular-sized blue Nerf bullets will be provided. If your gun takes batteries, please bring extra.

Stay tuned next week when we will announce the Summer Kehoe Concert Series.

Have a great week!
