INCIDENTS

City:

Thursday, 3:17 p.m., Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Thomas Matthew Meyer, 35, Bluffton, was arrested on two counts of theft with a prior conviction for the same or a similar offense, both Level 6 felonies. Bond set at $20,000.

Thursday, 3:22 p.m., residence in the 500 block of East Horton Street. Verbal altercation between caller’s parents over a pickup truck. Officers responded.

Thursday, 3:43 p.m., Wabash Street at Marion Street. Sheriff’s deputy located a woman who had an active warrant for her arrest. Dawn Amber Smith, 39, Bluffton, was arrested on one count of disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,000.

Thursday, 5:40 p.m., residence on Hi Lo Drive. Unwanted person at the residence. Officers responded. Situation calmed and resolved.

Thursday, 6:22 p.m., Bi County Services, 425 E. Harrison Road. Officers, Bluffton Fire Department first responders and Wells County EMS responded to a report of an unresponsive 61-year-old woman. She was transported to Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Thursday, 7:50 p.m., 700 block of South Johnson Street. Report of children ringing doorbells of houses and then running away. Officer checked the area but did not see any youth.

Thursday, 9:56 p.m., Hardee’s restaurant, 211 N. Main St. Report of a man inside the restaurant arguing with personnel. Officers responded. The man was reportedly claiming that while he was passed out in the restaurant earlier someone stole between $800 and $1,100 from his wallet. Information taken for a report.

Friday, 1:43 p.m., McDonald’s restaurant, 984 N. Main St. Man reportedly locked inside his 2007 Buick and requesting assistance from the Bluffton Police Department to unlock the car. An officer was unable to get the car to unlock, so the officer followed the man back to his residence in the 1300 block of West Washington Street. The Bluffton Fire Department was then contacted to assist in getting the car to unlock but only the passenger door would reportedly unlock.

Thursday, 6:47 p.m., residence on 900S west of 900W. Sheriff’s deputies served a warrant for arrest on Patti L. Powell, 55, Jacksonville, Ark., for one count of theft, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond was set at $1,500.

Thursday, 7:27 p.m., Ind. 124 next to Fairview Cemetery. Nicole C. Shavalier, 33, Bluffton, hit a deer with her 2010 Dodge Caravan. Damage to the van exceeded $2,500.

County:

Thursday, 5:27 a.m., Marzane Road near 1100N. Kaycee L. Davis, 24, rural Markle, hit a deer with her 2011 GMC Acadia. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Thursday, 7:25 a.m., 300W south of 300S. Cy E. Westfall, 18, Bluffton, was southbound on 300W when he stopped for a school bus that had stopped and was picking up a passenger. Ella Rockwell, 17, rural Liberty Center, was approaching from behind Westfall. When she tried to stop, the 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck she was driving slid on the icy roadway into the back of the 2007 Buick Lucerne Westfall was driving causing more than $2,500 damage to the two vehicles.

Thursday, 7:28 p.m., 300W near Ind. 218. Meah L. Bailey, 21, rural Geneva, hit a deer with her 2013 Ford Taurus. Damage to the car exceeded $10,000.

Friday, 6 a.m., Ind. 116 near Vera Cruz. David P. Miller, 33, Berne, hit a deer with his 2007 Jeep Liberty. Damage to the vehicle exceeded $2,500.

Friday, 6:34 a.m., U.S. 224 at 450E. Timothy Lee Jackson, 49, address not listed, was driving a Toyota Corolla east on U.S. 224. Katrina Wenger, 45, address not listed, was driving a Subaru Legacy north on 450E. She tried to stop for the highway but her Legacy slid on the ice into the intersection where it collided with the backside of the Corolla causing it to spin into the ditch. The Legacy came to a stop in the eastbound lane of U.S. 224. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and had to be towed. Jackson suffered a shoulder injury in the crash. Ossian Fire Rescue and Wells County EMS were dispatched to the scene but Jackson declined transport to the hospital.

Friday, 7:02 a.m., 200S near Ind. 1. Bradley A. Vancamp, 49, rural Bluffton, hit a deer with his 2013 Dodge Caravan. Damage to the van exceeded $2,500.

Jeffrey Paul Miller, 59, Fulton, Mo.; non-support of a dependent child. No bond set.
