Air National Guard MSgt David Meeks addresses students, staff, and veterans during Friday’s Veterans Day ceremony and breakfast at Southern Wells. Meeks, a 1999 graduate of Southern Wells, who also has children attending Southern Wells, spoke about the qualities of leadership. He told the elementary and high school students assembled that characteristics of good leaders are the willingness to listen and learn, accept criticism, not be afraid to fail, and confidence in themselves. Meeks was the keynote speaker in place of radio station WOWO on-air personality Pat Miller who was ill and unable to attend the event. The event included students’ speeches about veterans, the reading of a letter regarding the importance of Veterans Day from Congressman Jim Banks, and performances from the high school band and choir.
