Prospective school board candidates for Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District and Southern Wells Community School will share their platforms and views during respective forums Tuesday night.
Hosted by Parent Teacher Association, the BHMSD’s forum will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Bluffton-Harrison Elementary School. There are two seats available, District 2 and at-large, both of which are contested races.
SWCS’s forum will be at 6 p.m. in the high school media center. There are also two seats available, the Chester Township seat being contested and the Liberty Township seat being uncontested. The forum will also be livestreamed on the district’s Facebook page.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8, and absentee or early voting begins Wednesday, Oct. 12. Five voting centers will be available in Wells County — Wells County Community Center, First Presbyterian Church, Lighted Gardens, Tower Life Center and the Southern Wells Community Church.
Candidates for the BHMSD board are: Peter C. Koiner, at large; Julie A. Thompson, at large; Robert G. Trexler, at large; Bruce E. Holland, District 2; and R.J. Kyle, District 2
Candidates for the SWCS board are: Amanda J. Gaskill, Chester Township; Kyle D. Heath, Chester Township; Andrew J. Pursifull, Chester Township; and Delora K. Schneider, Liberty Township
Early voting will be available in the county clerk’s office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every weekday. It will also be available on two Saturdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, at the clerk’s office and the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. On Thursday and Friday, Nov. 3 and 4, there will be early voting at First Presbyterian Church, the 4-H Park, and Lighted Gardens from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days.
