The Gene Stratton Porter Limberlost site in Geneva will be the starting place for a hike along the Deacon’s Trail at the Limberlost Swamp Nature Reserve Saturday, Oct. 8. Hours for the event will be 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Participants can learn  how Porter used the area as background for her novels, how it was destroyed, and how it is having a rebirth. Tickets for the hike are priced at $5 for adults, $4 for youth (3-17) and free for those 2 and younger.

The Music of the Wild Nature Preserve and Bird Sanctuary is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Limberlost site in Geneva. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for youth (3-17) and free to those 2 and younger.

The Limberlost site will host a program Friday evening, Oct. 28, based on the gruesome murder by killer H.H. Holmes during the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. The program will be presented as told in the Eric Larson book “Devil in the White City.” The show will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. three days before Halloween.

This program best suited for those 14 years of age and older. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for youth. To register to attend call 260-368-7428.
