Lady Knights’ volleyball sweeps NE8 foe DeKalb
The Norwell volleyball team made the road trip to DeKalb and swept their match 3-0. The win improves their record to 11-10 on the season and 1-2 in Northeast 8 play.
The scores were 25-14, 25-20, and 25-20.
Bluffton tennis beats Concordia at home
The Bluffton boys’ tennis team won its home match against Concordia 3-2 Thursday afternoon.
Keegan Schwartz for Bluffton won in singles over Chris Stamm 6-2, 6-2. Concordia got their two match points with Colton Ehle over Anthony Hartman 6-1, 6-1, and Evan Gerig over Blake Moser 6-4, 6-3.
Bluffton won both of its doubles matches, starting with Preston Daughtery and Drew Pressler winning over Noah Scaliker and Havin Fegler 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. The other match was won by Logan Reifsteck and Max Worth over Nathan Bryan and Nico Conley 6-0, 6-7, 7-6.
The JV teams split 3-3 in their match. The winners for the JV team for Bluffton were Nolan Lambert, doubles team Ben Maggard and Kaden Grau, and the duo of Ethan hunt and Dane Schlaugenhauf.
The Tigers will play at home to Norwell at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept 23.
Norwell tennis swept by Leo in conference play
The Norwell Knights’ tennis team hosted Leo in a Thursday afternoon Northeast 8 Conference game. The Knights’ were swept 5-0 in the match. In singles, the Lions’ Aaron Brandenberger won over Ethan Ottinger 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Grant Mishler did not finish the match for Norwell off of an injury, giving Evan Winters the win. Babe Stanchin won over Bodie Zimmer 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, Andrew Roth and Isaac Copeland won over Winston Frauhiger and Brason Chaney 6-2, 6-3. Eli Lagrange and Rowan Pfister won over Jaden Payne and Jake Hoover 7-5, 7-6, 7-3.
The JV match was won by Leo 6-2.
The two winners for Norwell were Ignacio Albrecht over Evan Andrews 8-2, and Ethan Williamson teaming with James Simmerman over Skylar Vachon and Ben Meyer 6-2.
Leo won their matches with Jonathan Plattner over Owen Cupp 8-5. Maddox Nelson defeated Gavin Reynolds 8-2. Charlie Amstutz and Rabon Forest won over Eddie Archbold and Ayden Quintanilla 8-6. Jacob Detmers Evan Ott beat Brayden Wallace and Ethan Wilson 8-1. Michael Ambush and Caiden Rieman won over Alex Baker and Christian Werling 8-2.
The Knights will take on Bluffton on the road at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept 23.
Tigers’ volleyball falls to Eastbrook in four sets
The Bluffton volleyball team traveled to Eartbrook Thursday night and lost in four sets. The scores of the match were 25-20, 25-17, 29-27 (Bluffton), and 25-22.
The stat leaders for the night were Maryn Schreiber with 10 kills and three blocks, Emma Baumgartner with 32 assists, Marly Drayer with 18 digs, and Konley Ault with two aces.
The JV squad lost its match in two games, 25-21 and 25-19.
The stat leaders for the JV match were Claire Craighead with one ace, three kills, and four digs, Lexi Grady with one ace and six assists, Haddie Yergler with three kills and one ace, and Ava Troxel with one ace.
Bluffton’s next match will be the ACAC tournament at Adams Central at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept 24.
