Preliminary plea of not guilty entered for Tin Win Htet, 30, Fort Wayne, charged with resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a vehicle, a Level 6 felony; reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor; speeding, a Class C infraction; two counts of disregarding a stop sign, both Class C infractions; disregarding an official traffic control device, a Class C infraction; and passing in a no passing zone, a Class C infraction. He was released on his own recognizance.
On Sept. 14, while patrolling northbound on 100E near 200N, a sheriff’s deputy clocked a southbound 2005 Toyota Corolla approaching at 81 mph-55 zone. The deputy turned his patrol vehicle around and activated the vehicle’s emergency lights. The Corolla reportedly continued southbound. The deputy activated the siren of his patrol vehicle. The Corolla reportedly continued south and made an eastbound turn onto 100N without stopping at the four-way stop.
The sheriff’s deputy continued to pursue the vehicle. The deputy noted in his report that the Corolla continued east on 100N, turned right onto Ind. 116 without stopping as required, continued eastbound on Ind. 116 at a high rate of speed, passed a semi in a no passing zone, made a right turn onto Main Street and then a right turn into the parking lot of the Family Farm and Home Store, where it pulled into a parking space and stopped. The deputy also pulled in along with a state trooper who had heard the radio dispatch of a vehicle fleeing from a sheriff’s deputy.
Both the trooper and the deputy ordered the driver — later identified as Htet, out of the Corolla. He exited the vehicle, and later in an interview with the deputy, reportedly admitted that he had been speeding because he was late for work. He told the deputy that he had previously timed himself on the road and discovered that where he was located at the time, if he drove fast enough, he could get to work on time.
Htet allegedly admitted to driving as fast as 90 mph and allegedly admitted to the deputy that he didn’t stop right away because he was frightened.

Preliminary plea of not guilty entered for Joseph Kneeland, 35, Bluffton, charged with public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor, and littering a Class B infraction. He was released on his own recognizance. Larry Mock appointed public defender.
At 9:52 p.m. Sept. 14 officers responded to the 600 block of North Main Street on a report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated was walking on the Interurban Trail, yelling and hitting signs. The man was located about a block further north still apparently yelling and had shattered a glass bottle on the trail.
A Breathalyzer test reportedly showed Kneeland’s alcohol concentration equivalency to be .157 percent, or nearly twice Indiana’s legal limit for intoxication.
